Mardi Gras falls on Tuesday, February 16, 2010, is also known as Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras is French for “Fat Tuesday”) or Shrove Tuesday and is the last day of feasting before Lent begins on Ash Wednesday. This celebration began many years ago in France and now there are carnivals held worldwide.  How the name Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) first came about is not clear.
