Mardi Gras falls on Tuesday, February 21, 2012, is also known as Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras is French for “Fat Tuesday”) or Shrove Tuesday and is the last day of feasting before Lent begins on Ash Wednesday. This celebration began many years ago in France and now there are carnivals held worldwide. How the name Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) first came about is not clear. Masquerade costumes and Mardi Gras Masks and Beads are most popular and highly promoted by television news programs and Hollywood movies.

First, I just want to say thank you for making this site available, and allowing us to take advantage of the Keyword Luv Plug-in. My wife and are getting ready to take our yearly trip to New Orleans. Mardi Gras is a fantastic time and we look forward to it every year. If you have never been, by all means try and make it to Mardi Gras at least once.

I found your comments behind the history of the Mardis Gras really interesting. I never knew it meant “Fat Tuesday”. You have some fantastic accessories here which would really spice up any costume. I am heading over to Brazil this October for a holiday and hope to pick up some interesting ideas for the Mardi Gras next year. I think a stop off in Argentia is also on the cards.
